056 - Bubble Boy
Today at the mall, Tom tried out the bubbles. Yes, he is a bit like a hamster! He said it was tough to stand up, running was weird because he had to lean forward unnaturally to stay upright, and he was exhausted after 5 minutes!
055 - Aloha
Tia has a bunch of these fake leis on a lampshade. Today I was intrigued by the beautiful colors (my picture doesn't do them justice) and needed the boost. We are soooo in need of Spring!
054 - Battlefield
Tonight was the night my husband raided his stash of Matchbox vehicles and brought them out for Tia and Tom (I think he feels bad that Tia has an earache). The kids staged this battlefield - Tom has the plane and Tia has the helicopter.
053 - Snow bunny
Tia was home sick today, but needed some fresh air so she headed outside to build in the snow with lots of imagination!
052 - Scraps
Love doing the hands-on activities! I had grades 6, 7, and 8 take apart computers, keyboards, mice, hard drives, etc. They should all know the look (and feel) of significant computer components. For their test I will have a computer that is open and they will show me all the parts and tell me what they do. They had a lot of fun with this project.
051 - It never ends!
What never ends? Laundry! I am forever taking this basket down the stairs, up the stairs... and repeat. Right now is good... it's empty!
050 - Homework at halftime
At John's semi-final basketball tournament game, Tia sat and did homework. Poor girl was stuffy with a cold, tired, and she is dragged from game to game all season! She's a trooper though, smiley girl did a lovely job on her pictures and keeps us all laughing! (Unfortunately, John's team lost... but he played a GREAT game).
049 - Tom's cross
Tom has served 40 Masses as an altar server and received his cross today. That made for a lovely St. Valentine's Day!
048 - PURPLE is Art
PURPLE - Tom painted this Georgia O'Keefe style artwork when he was in 2nd grade, I believe. It is one of my favorites and is framed nicely to hang on the wall. Oh, and purple is my favorite color!
047 - BLUE is a Legend
BLUE - This shirt belonged to my husband, Tom. It was made for him by his grandmother when he was probably a pre-teen. Our son, Tom, who is 11 loves to wear it and does so proudly. I'm sure his great-grandmother is smiling!
046 - the only GREEN to be found in February
GREEN means renewal and life and hope. February in New England is cold and dreary. We are tired of winter and in need of sunshine. Dreams of green grass and leaves dance in our heads! Of course, then we have to start thinking of mowing and raking! But right now I would love to have my windows open to hear the wind rustling the green leaves in the trees. *sigh*
045 - YELLOW School Stuff
... and you thought it would be a school bus today, ha! YELLOW is for a batch of stuff we use at school. Bright and cheery on a snowy, dreary day... when will spring flowers arrive? I would rather take pictures of dandelions, black-eyed susans with bright yellow petals than a pile of post-its and highlighters!
043 - RED for spirit
RED - today is red for school spirit and the adventurous challenge of making it into space (we have a HS alumni that was the 1st US man to orbit the earth).
042 - WHITE for the 100th
WHITE - the color for today as shown in 100 marbles in a white bowl all ready for Tia to bring to school for the 100th day.
041 - Deep red love on my knee
As usual, sitting in the car waiting for a kid to be done with practice... what can I take a picture of here? I know, I'll take off the necklace that the kids gave me for Christmas, perch it on my denim clad knee and see what I can get. Here it is.
040 - Through the glass
I have a fondness for blown glass - it fascinates me and I would love to create it myself. There is a class locally that I may try to take one weekend and learn. However, like most crafts, I'm really good at them in my mind... once my hands get involved there is a disconnect that is fairly obvious! So this picture is of a glass circle that hangs in one of my windows - you can see the wavy trees through the glass.
038 - Feeling fenced in?
When you are in school, either as a student or teacher, do you feel fenced in? Rules, regulations, standards, codes, expectations, peer pressure... how do we effectively break out of that feeling? How can we be Agents of Change and move past the fences?
037 - Snowman & redbird share "hello!"
Tia has artwork on the school bulletin board right outside her 1st grade classroom and just next to the copier machine... I walk by it several times a day and thought to add it to my collection here too!
036 - Homework hands
Tia is working on her homework, a report on blue jays from a book she read. I love this picture of her hands... so little yet so confident.
